Dr. Dre Tops Forbes 2012 Hip-Hop Cash Kings List
Call it Dre Day. Dr. Dre dethroned Jay-Z as Forbes magazine’s “Hip-Hop Cash Kings” biggest breadwinner as the superproducer and businessman pulled in $110 million through his various ventures. Previously, Jay-Z had topped the list every year save for a brief interruption by 50 Cent.
Still, Hov has nothing to be ashamed of. The Brooklyn mogul raked in $38 million dollars through his multitude of sponsorship deals, including Duracell and Budweiser. Jay-Z’s joint Watch The Throne tour with Kanye West helped both rappers live cushier lives; West landed right behind Jay, with $35 million of his own, stemming from album and production royalties and his sneaker deal with Nike.
Diddy landed at number two on the list, as the Bad Boy Entertainment CEO hauled in $45 million. Lil Wayne rounded out the Top 5, with $27 million.
Young Money/Cash Money dominated the next five slots, as Drake ($20.5) , Birdman ($20), Nicki Minaj ($15.5) are joined by Eminem ($15) and Ludacris ($12)
